Hello, and welcome.
My name is Hikaru Hie, founder of Pilates Lab.
I am a Pilates instructor with a background in behavioral psychology, and for many years I have supported people in learning, growth, and developing the ability to thrive in ways that feel
authentic and sustainable.
Through studying and practicing Pilates, I came to understand something deeply:
working with the body is never only about posture or muscle strength.
It is also connected to breath, emotions, thought patterns, habits, and the way we live.
I have found that people who try very hard often carry that effort in their bodies as well.
The ribs flare, the shoulders overwork, the lower back takes over, the breath becomes shallow.
To me, these patterns are not simply “mistakes” in posture.
They are also signs of how hard someone has worked to move through life.
That is why my teaching is not only about “doing it correctly.”
It is about helping people notice their bodies, find a way of moving that fits them, and build a body and mind that can feel supported without
over-efforting.
Alongside Pilates, I also bring in perspectives from behavioral psychology, mental wellbeing, motivation, resilience, lifestyle habits, hydration, and nourishment — always with the intention of
helping people build wellbeing they can actually sustain.
Pilates Lab is not simply a place to exercise.
It is a space to reconnect with yourself through the body, and to cultivate a way of living that feels healthier, steadier, and more aligned with who you are.
I would be honoured to explore with you what strength, balance, and wellbeing can look like in your own life.
